Finding Your Place in the Changing World
Leadership for Women in the Changing World
My biography:
From learning to fly in 1982 and joining a large airline in 1988, I have walked a long road as a woman in a man's world - and learnt a lot along the way. But even though I came through the airline industry, what I learnt is universal, and has meaning for all.
My qualifications/achievements:
Several 'firsts' as a woman in the South African airline industry:
The first qualified to fly Boeing 747-400
Commander of first all-female Boeing airline crew in SA
First - and still only - woman pilot in SA to command long-range international flights
Also - Chairman and co-developer of my airline's Pilot's Association Mentorship Programme, assisting new pilots.
What I do best:
What some people have to say about me:
"Your address was excellent... both interesting and inspirational...
Delegates came away enlightened and encouraged to tackle the issues
which confront them daily as women"
- Samandrie Govender, IPM Women's Convention Convenor
